Bringing Joy and Wonder Through Technology

Born in Philadelphia and raised in Tokyo, I've always been driven by a passion to enhance lives through innovative solutions.

Discovering Artificial Intelligence in seventh grade was a turning point that ignited my desire to leverage technology for good. I immersed myself in programming, mastering multiple programming languages. This foundation enabled me to work on projects since high school.

A personal journey deepened my commitment to AI. After my grandfather's passing, I witnessed my grandmother's loneliness and was inspired by the movie Big Hero 6 to create an AI companion that understands human emotions. This led to 3 years of research in Facial Emotion Recognition (FER) AI across institutions like the National Institute of Informatics.

Now, as a Computer Science major at Purdue University, I continue my FER research, working on its real-world applications simultaneously. I'm developing a chatbot capable of understanding and responding to human emotions, aiming to bring the joy and wonder of technology to as many people as possible.

Frontend Development

My technical expertise in frontend development is supported by my personal projects, including this website which was created mainly using Next.js and TypeScript. Basic web development skills of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are trained through the "Client-Side Internet Technologies" class taken at Stanford University. React was used in BookAiReview, Lemon Discharger Game, and Emotional Friend Chatbot, all of which supported me to explore functionalities of React and realize my idea through coding.

Backend Development

My expertise in backend development is built upon my proficiency in Python, which has been my main programming language since middle school. Both SQL and NoSQL are used in my personal projects. For instance, Django is used in BookAiReview website to store book reviews. Node.js has been used to create all the websites I've created, including this website. APIs have been a key to differentiate my websites from others and make them more user-friendly with many functionalities. For example, OpenAI API is used in the Emotional Friend Chatbot to support its core chatting feature.

AI/ML Development

Since grade 10, I have been conducting AI research supported by university professors. Started from using Scikit-learn and other python libraries, such as Matplotlib, Numpy, and Pandas, I have been working on the research till now. My recent research involves higher understanding and implementation of AI model architecture developed specifically for computer vision, making PyTorch and OpenCV main libraries in my research. Given the amount of computations required to train models, I fully utilize the power of GPUs, mainly CUDA, for imagery processing and AI model training; recently, I'm utilizing a cloud computing service to boost model training with a stronger GPU attached.
